How to Make Garden Furniture Cushion Covers

Materials You'll Need:

- Suitable outdoor fabric (e.g., Sunbrella, Canvas, Olefin) - Measuring tape - Fabric scissors - Fabric pen or chalk - Sewing machine - Thread - Zipper (optional) - Velcro (optional)

Instructions:

1. Measure and Cut the Fabric:

Measure and record the length, width, and height of the cushion. Add 2-4 inches to each measurement for seam allowances. Cut two rectangles of fabric according to these measurements.

2. Sew the Sides:

Place the two fabric pieces right sides together (the sides you want to show) and pin along the sides. Sew the sides together using a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

3. Insert the Zipper (Optional):

If you want a removable cover, insert a zipper now. Measure and mark the center of the back edge. Open the zipper and pin it in place, leaving a small overlap at each end. Sew the zipper in place.

4. Sew the Bottom:

Turn the cover right side out and fold the bottom edge up by 2 inches. Pin and sew the bottom edge closed.

5. Insert the Cushion:

Turn the cover right side out and insert the cushion. If you used a zipper, zip it up.

6. Add Velcro (Optional):

For extra security, you can add Velcro to the back of the cover. Cut two small strips of Velcro and sew them to the back edge of the cover, one on each side.

Tips:
