How to Create a Flat Rock Patio: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Plan and Excavate

Determine the size and shape of your patio. Mark the area with stakes and string. Excavate the area to a depth of 6-8 inches, removing sod, topsoil, and any debris.

Step 2: Prepare the Base

Spread a layer of landscape fabric over the excavated area to prevent weeds. Pour a 2-3-inch layer of sand over the fabric and level it using a laser level or leveling rake.

Step 3: Lay the Rocks
