Gather your materials

You will need the following materials to build your patio umbrella stand:

4 x 4 cedar posts (24 inches long)
2 x 6 cedar planks (18 inches long)
1/2-inch galvanized bolts (8 inches long)
1/2-inch washers (4)
1/2-inch nuts (4)
Drill
Socket wrench
Measuring tape
Circular saw
Pencil
Safety glasses

Cut the cedar posts

Start by cutting the cedar posts to length. The posts should be 24 inches long. You can use a circular saw or a miter saw to make the cuts.

Drill the holes for the bolts

Next, you need to drill the holes for the bolts. The holes should be drilled 4 inches from the top of the posts and 4 inches from the bottom of the posts. Use a 1/2-inch drill bit to drill the holes.

Assemble the frame
