How to Build a Patio Chair Out of Wood

Materials:

2x4 lumber (for the frame)
1x6 lumber (for the seat and back)
1-1/2 inch wood screws

Instructions:

Cut the lumber to length:
- For the frame, cut four 2x4s to 24 inches long and two 2x4s to 18 inches long.
- For the seat and back, cut four 1x6s to 24 inches long and two 1x6s to 18 inches long.
Assemble the frame:
- Lay out the four 24-inch 2x4s on a flat surface, forming a rectangle. The two 18-inch 2x4s will form the back legs.
- Attach the back legs to the frame using wood glue and 1-1/2 inch wood screws. Countersink the screws so that they are flush with the surface of the wood.
Attach the seat and back:
- Lay out the four 24-inch 1x6s on top of the frame, aligning them with the edges of the frame.
- Attach the seat and back to the frame using wood glue and 1-1/2 inch wood screws. Countersink the screws as before.
Sand and finish:
- Sand the chair to remove any splinters or rough edges.
- If desired, you can paint or stain the chair to match your patio decor.

Tips:

Use pressure-treated lumber if you plan on leaving the chair outdoors.
Make sure to countersink the screws so that they are flush with the surface of the wood.
